How it all started...
New Solid Rock Church Ministries is founded upon this rock of faith that, Jesus is The Christ, the Son of the living God. It was on Friday, May 17, 1996, while attending a Gospel Musical at Banneker Academic High School that the Lord placed on the hearts of Pastors Terrence & Taunya Melvin the burning desire to establish "Solid Rock Church Ministries," with the Motto: "Building Strong Souls for Christ." Eventually we added the word "New" Solid Rock to distinguish our Church from others already established in the area. Act 2:17 says: And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: The Lord confirmed His will in our hearts on Saturday, June 30, 1996, by giving us a vision, showing His will for the structure and future growth of New Solid Rock Church Ministries.
On October 20, 1996, New Solid Rock Church Ministries was established. On Thursday, November 7, 1996, we began our first work with a series of Bible Studies in our home every Thursday night at 7:30p.m. The Lord was with us. Eight days after our first bible study, the Lord provided a way for us to move to 819 Upshur Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. on November 15, 1996. We started with the three of us, Pastor Terrence, Co-Pastor Taunya and our Daughter Theresa.
On October 20, 1996, New Solid Rock Church Ministries was established. Expanding the vision...
On May 18, 2001, 5 years after our beginning this growing congregation purchased 819 Upshur Street. On June 1, 2014, the Lord allowed us to move to our current location in Landover Hills, to God Be the Glory!! We are a Church on Fire for God! We are on the move for our new “Worship Center.”

New Solid Rock is a "Church on Fire" for Christ. We are praying the prayer of Jabez for God to enlarge our territory! We are currently looking for a new facility that will allow us to expand our outreach ministry and help us to begin new programs here at The Rock!
