The members and friends of New Solid Rock Church Ministries, Inc along with donations from corporations, sponsor the NSR Community Outreach Program. New Solid Rock Church Ministries is an incorporated 501 C (3) religious organization. Established November 1996, in Washington, D.C. The church officially established the Community Outreach Program February 1999. The Outreach Program is a Five-Step program, with each component separate but integrated to fulfill the total need.
The Community Outreach Program is designed to assist residents of the Petworth community as well as other areas of the city that desire to return to the work place, and to also provide assistance with food and clothing to sustain them and their family during their transitional period.
The five components of the Community Outreach Program are The Information Technology Program, with a theme “The Office and Beyond”, the Emergency Food Bank, the Clothing Bank, the Job Bank and the Youth Division.
We have four general target groups. The first group are individuals that have been incarcerated, and on drugs that are now in the rehabilitation process such as parole and drug rehab.
Our second group are individuals that have been on public assistance or those that have lost their jobs and want to go to work but lack the necessary skills to even qualify for a position.
Our third group are senior citizens/retirees that desire to learn basic computer and office skills, so that they may use their talents as volunteers in various areas or find a position to supplement their income.
Our fourth group are youth ages 1-18 years, the program provides activities that will keep them off the street and promote improvement in learning, self-esteem and skills.
Families and individuals are notified of our services by Public Access TV, Community and radio bulletin boards, libraries and other general mailings. The NSR Community Outreach Program components work simultaneously with each other to provide a total package for the individual.
